The abuser may ask you to help

The abuser may trick you by passing the message of him or her being in trouble and need your help.

This type of tricks are usually used by some one you do not know at all or someone you know little about. It is okay if someone in your family asks you to help but not someone you do not know and ask you for a type of help that requires you go with him or her somewhere else.

This does not mean that anyone who asks you for help is trying to abuse you, but you need to be careful.  Remember, decent people do not ask children for help. They ask grownups. Do not argue with them.

Just say "No" or  " I  can't" or do not say any thing at all and leave. As you leave, you can always tell him or her that you will go and ask an adult to come and help.

These are some examples of what help they may ask you to offer them:

I lost my cat, help me find it. It may die from hunger if I do not find it.

My bags are heavy. Please help me carry them to my house. It is not far away.

I will give you money if you help me organize my books.

I will pay for the video games if you show me how to play.

  And different other requests.
